KGTropicals $100 raffle
« on: September 29, 2014, 01:40:20 pm »
Hi everyone  ;D
Most of you know that my 19 yr old son left a few weeks ago for boot camp at Parris Island to become a Marine. Of course, I'm the proudest mom on the face of the earth right now. I've taken up a few projects to help support 2nd Battalion Platoon 2081 and help bring some comfort for these future men that will soon be protecting our country. I went to King George Elementary School and spoke with my 5th graders language art teacher about sending 72 letters to the Platoon. She was thrilled to take this on and I can pick all these letters up on Wednesday!  Yaaay.
Next on my list is a bake sale that I am having in front of the fish store on October 11th during the Fall Festival. I've had such a wonderful response from my community to help with it. My goal is to raise enough money to send the entire platoon protein bars, another 15 bags of cough drops and moleskins to protect there feet during the crucible.
My final project is holding a raffle to help with the the items I mentioned above, but also I hope to have enough to buy meals for the Marines who graduate that have no family attending for family day or graduation.  I know of 11 in my son's platoon that will not have family or loved ones to celebrate with. This is how the raffle works-
1 ticket is $2
3 tickets $5
Grand Prize is $100 KGTropicals gift certificate
2nd Prize $25 KGTropicals gift certificate
3rd Prize $10 KGTropicals gift certificate
If anyone is interested in purchasing a ticket, please email KGTropicals@gmail.com. Drawing will be on October 20th.

Welcome to the military family. You might also look into military family support groups in your area to see if they are willing to help in any way. Personally, groups like that have been a great asset to my mother for support and camaraderie. They have also sent me numerous care packages throughout the years on various deployments.
First do no harm.

As Marines and Army guys say "Hoooah" welcome to the military family. I also just joined this forum and have been a subscriber to you tube for a while. I am a retired/ disabled army veteteran myself having served over 17 years active duty. Disabilities from different deployments from Vietnam to Enduring Freedom in 1991 made me quit active life before 20 years. I also worked and was self employed ( yes I know all about those schedule C's if that what your doing, as a computer consultant, web hosting and design myself for another 20 years. Always wanted a aquarium or two or three or more. But went from a 5 gallon and now up to a 40 gallon. No John no chilids for me as yet. Starting out slow, community planted tank in the 29 gallon ( which we are moving everything except the water to the 40 ( yes I watched the 101 series although I did know most of it already. It's been a year and a half so I research everything thanks for it all.
Lisa and John great work you guys are doing particurlarly Lisa in the those young men who will soon ( 16 weeks) will become lean mean fighting machines. Stay proud you guys are as the marines say, the proud, the few and a marine
